Joanne Howard, one of the island’s most popular surf instructors, started Gone Surfing Hawaii in 2010. Previously working in various Waikiki surf schools, she opened her own after building a loyal following of customers. One of her greatest joys has been witnessing clients conquer their physical fears. Through surfing, she’s seen them gain the confidence to tackle other obstacles in life, just like tackling that first wave.
