We are a mobile company – bookings must be made in advance by phone or online. After booking, all the information on where to meet, what to bring, etc will be sent via email.


What if I need to cancel all or one person in my lesson?

Refund policy: Full refund with 48 hours notice for cancelation OR rescheduling. We are a small company and book up quickly. When bookings are made, we close those lesson times for others. Please respect our cancelation or rescheduling policy – it is very difficult to refill a spot with less than 48 hours notice. We are more than happy to refund or reschedule with 48 hours notice. πŸ™‚


What if it’s raining?

We still go surfing in the rain- because we will be getting wet anyway. πŸ™‚ We do not go out in unsafe conditions. Unsafe conditions are determined by Gone Surfing Hawaii and is 100% refundable.

Do you offer photography?

Will I get sea sick?

It’s not often that people feel sea sick during our lessons. If you do think you might get sick, and you normally take a non sea sick pill/ remedy, please make sure that it is a non drowsy medicine/remedy.


What’s the temperature in the water?

The temperature is roughly around 74 degrees during most of the year — a couple degrees colder in the winter.


If one of us is under 13, but the rest are older, what type of lesson should I book, and will we all be together?

Yes, you will all be surfing together. However, for safety reasons, we require children under the age of 13 to be reserved for private lessons. Other family members may be booked as a semi-private lesson, but all will be surfing in the same area.


What do I bring to the lesson?

Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel and sunscreen. Make sure to put sunscreen on the back of your legs and face; your arms will be protected by the rash guard.


Who’d win in a fight, Superman or Batman?

It all depends on the terrain.


REQUIREMENTS

Are there age restrictions?

For surfing lessons, you must be five (5) years or older. Children under the age of 13 are required to take private, one-on-one lessons. There are no age restrictions for canoe rides. All ages are welcome.


What do I bring to the lesson?

Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel and sunscreen. Make sure to put sunscreen on the back of your legs and face; your arms will be protected by the rash guard.


Will the rash guards make me look fat?

a) no, it will accentuate your curves/ muscles b) Yes, but its the rash guards fault c) rash guards don’t make you, you make the rash guards;)


When do I show up for my lesson?

You will need to show up for your lesson 5 minutes before start time.


Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes. While surfing, you will be attached to the surfboard by a leash, but you need to be an ‘ok’ swimmer.


EXPERIENCE LEVEL

I’m kind of out of shape. Can I still learn to surf?

Absolutely! We’ve taken people of all ages and ability levels out surfing.


What if I’ve never surfed before?

Gone Surfing Hawaii specializes in personalized lessons for absolute beginners.


If I know how to surf already, can we go to a more advanced spot for surfing?

Yes. Contact us at info@gonesurfinghawaii.com with your experience and board preference and we will locate the best spot for you.


I’m not a bad cook but how am I supposed to keep my Thanksgiving turkey moist while still achieving a brown crispy skin?

Try flipping it upside down when roasting. Most of the fat is in its back, and will essentially self baste. Flip the bird for the last 20 min.

I can’t go at the times listed, can I go earlier or later in the day?

Yes. For those unable to surf with the lesson times given, we offer sunset surfing lessons. Sunset surfing prices differ from regular lesson times. Earlier surf times may be available upon request at an additional cost.

LOCATION

Why don’t you have a sign up- how will I find you?

To find us, please refer to the meeting location given in the confirmation email. We are not permitted by the State of Hawaii to post signs/ flags/ banners on the beach. If everyone did this- it would take away from the natural beauty of our island πŸ™‚ – we completely agree and comply with this policy.

Where do I go for my lesson?

Most lessons will be held at β€œPops” in Waikiki. It is a long rolling break, perfect for beginners and away from the crowds. Depending on your hotel, we will set up a meeting place easiest for you.

All canoe rides will be taken out at the world famous break β€œCanoes” in the heart of Waikiki. Canoe rides are carried out by our partner company, COMPANY NAME, but can be booked through us.


If I know how to surf already, can we go to a more advanced spot for surfing?

PAYMENT

Can I charge my lesson or tour to my hotel room?

You may charge your hotel if staying at the beautiful Halekulani, The Kahala, or Trump International Waikiki.


Do I need to pay through PayPal? Can I pay over the phone?

You do not need to purchase reservations solely through PayPal. Cash, credit card, and checks are accepted, but transactions must be done at time of booking.
